Goin ta see da judge

The last week Bay Meadows was open, the office had an offsite there.
The lunch buffet was OK.
I found the whole thing fascinating.

I didnt bet, but some in the office did. Les won 80 cents !
Unlike Vegas, you are really betting against your fellow bettors.
The "house" gets its cut elsewhere.

It was a last chance to experience a time gone by.

When I was commuting by train, I noticed that in the evening,
Bay Meadows rented out the infield for youth soccer.

I slept through most of the 3 day weekend. Im not sure why but Im tired alot.

Ive been cleaning up some overdue traffic stuff.
Interestingly enough, no moving violations, no DUI,
just paperwork stuff that got spaced out.
I had a hell of a time convincing Hayward that they really did need to see me.
I knew I was in their system but they couldnt find me.
(NO WONDER I have all this overdue stuff!!)

2 weeks ago I appeared on something that had a bench warrant.
I asked the judge "Am I done?" and she said i was.
The next day, my bailbondsman called wanting to know what happened.
Turns out there were 2, which is what i thought but the judge didnt
realize it. Some genius had scheduled me for 2 different courtrooms on
different floors, neither judge knew about the other.
So now the bondsman wanted another $400 to reinstate me.
I contacted the court clerk and he took copied of my papers and got the judge to
agree to reschedule me. This saved me the $400. I made my appearance yesterday
and thats when I found out that Id been scheduled but the warrant had not been called off.
SO I settled up with the court and they said they were recalling the warrant.

This morning I was late to work, and that was a good thing.
Palo Alto PD had been by the office looking for me.
(How did they know where I work? Im a temp !)
"Hi, the police were by this morning looking for you.
Heres their card, you should call them.
By the way, what did you DO ?"

I called the court clerk instead.
Ive now got an internal number for them to by pass the voice response system
with all the clean up Ive been doing.

It turns out that not only did they fail to recall the warrant after rescheduling me,
they didnt recall it after I settled up in court. Somewhere around noon, things finally hit
and it was recalled. Meanwhile someone came to me to tell me that Palo Alto PD was back.
I called the card and they wanted to put me into voicemail and I demanded that they patch me through. The officer said that he had just heard that it had been recalled.

My manager just told me that the last time a police officer had come to him wanting to
take one of his people away, it was none other than Kevin Mitnick.
Im luck that my manager has a sense of humour.

Im still bent outta shape that they booked me into 2 places at once and then put a price on my head.

Im in enough trouble violating civil law, and now they want me to violate a law of physics ????

Interestingly enough, when I found out I was in trouble 2 months ago, I was told I had two warrants out for me. Yesterday I was told I was appearing on the stop 2 months ago. How could this happen when I was never given a ticket on that stop ? It appears that the stop 2 months ago over wrote something I had in the past.

Further searches to see if I have anything else lurking have turned up nothing.

So Im OK now. Nobody is looking for me. Whew! But this is both weird and some of our
public servants are pretty sloppy.

A couple weeks ago I worked communications for Red Cross Bay to Breakers.
This is the 1st time that I didnt have a good time doing it.
Far more stupidity than usual.

We made the digital TV conversion over the weekend.
I was not impressed.
I hoped some of the aux chanels would be interesting.
No such luck.
Also when something that would cause a brief static on analog TV comes by on DTV,
the screen pixilates, freezes and audio stops too.
You either get perfect or nothing. Id rather take my chances with mediocre.
Planes flying overhead cause it to crap out.
I think analog TV is better.
Now I hear that in about 5 years they are going to move the digital TV again so we
will have to go out and buy YET ANOTHER *&^%$#@! converter box !
