Into Dickens Sesaon
2017-Oct-24, Tuesday 17:33Public service season is complete for this year.
I think I posted about the bike incident at the start of the month.
The 6 mo gig (at below market rates, but it was only a few months) I took in 2015 has run nearly
2.5 years.
We went through the HP HPE split, now part of HPE is sold to Micro Focus
(the people who currently own the rights to COBOL)
Our security remediation project has been extended a few times but finally, we are coming to an end.
Friday will be my last day.
Im interviewing like mad as I dont have a reserve set up.
After all, the 6months at below market rates wouldnt put me TOO far behind...
Yeah right. Ill be living on plastic for the next 2 months I fear.
Im nervous, stressed, but not bitter.
It was a hell of a run while it lasted and my resume will be better for it.
Long contracts look better and I add security remediation to my skillset.
I havent heard on the motorcycle yet, but I dont have time to deal with it anyway.
Its been in the shop since 2015.
The fires are winding down.
A taskforce from San Diego County passed me on 580 heading towards I5 on the way to work.
They were one of many mutual aid deployments being released.
The weekend the fires started was the same weekend as the cycling incident I ended up working on.
The one good thing from that weekend was that Palmer Chiropractic College was at base camp doing free
therapy.
I was stressed. That cretin accelerated before hitting those cyclists.
Palmer did an excellent job on my back.
Im walking straighter since and the stabbing pains in my lower back are gone.
I still get dull ache after Ive been up a while, but its nothing compared to what it was before.
I need to get into their out patient clinic for another session.
It will probably be after xmas thought.
In the meantime Im so much better.
Dickens faire workshops start this weekend.
We are t-minus 3 weeks from Faire.
There is lots to do, and between faire & job hunting, this will distract me from the season of the year I detest.
On the political front, I think I figured some things out.
I was furious in college when they made me take political science.
I had such a ball I took the rest of the poly sci classes they had.
Its come in handy.
The obvious question is why the GOP is letting this clown stick around despite his tarnishing their party.
I note from the time he tweets, Im pretty sure hes tweeting from the potty in the morning.
The wine county fires destroyed 8500 homes and numerous businesses & wineries.
Despite all of this, most coverage stayed with Trump.
During the election, Koch industries stayed out of the presidential race.
The Koch brothers detest Trump.
On the other hand, they are getting EVERYTHING they want, courtesy of Pence.
While everyone is watching "Crazy Donald" Pence is serving the Koch brothers with a silver platter.
Of course, nobody notices this during the circus and it will be too late when they do.
At the moment, Trump is probably going to stay for another 7 years and 4 or 5 more court picks.
This is bad.
Bad for 7 years but his court picks will be with us for decades.
The Democrats are still too busy blaming other people for their loss, instead of looking at what they REALLY did wrong.
If they are serious (Which Im not sure) they need to accept that the botched the campaign and start over.
The starting point is to take certain things which are considered "liberal" causes and repackage them into national security issues.
Clean air & water a national security issues and should be presented as so.
Healthcare is a national security issue.
If your people are sick, your country is compromised.
Same for safe food and the list goes on.
Trailer Trash Palin is bad on national security.
"Drill Baby drill" is a bad idea. Keep the petroleum you have.
Use up all the oil in the middle east.
Deprive ISIS of its income.
Eventually, the only country that STILL has oil is US.
Now THATS national security.
Kill off the Keystone pipeline because its all about getting backen shale oil to a port to sell to the chinese.
Keep it in the upper midwest and refine it there.
Trump, being a populist, cant be defeated except by another populist.
Someone talked about running Tom Hanks for President, I laughed.
Im not now.
Hes smart. Hes actually a nice guy. Hes polite & soft spoken. Hes loved and TRUSTED like Cronkite & Murrow were.
If someone took a jab at him, they would be taken down in an instant.
Much of Trumps base loves Tom Hanks.
The bottom line is that Tom Hanks is probably the ONLY person in America who could defeat Trump in 3 years.
The only problem is that hes not running.
I cant believe Im saying this:
"Im a Republican who is praying that the Democrats will run Tom Hanks against Trump, and I hope Hanks wins!"
