The spice of life
2021-Feb-08, Monday 10:45I dont know if Coleen reads my posts anymore or not.
If not, perhaps Steve can forward this tidbit to her?
My brother in law, Tom travels, ALOT.
He actually visits the Dubai Spice Market several times a year.
For the most part, spices in the US are basically sawdust.
Dubai cinnamon, you can WELD with!
Tom is not traveling as much as he was and hes moving to semi retirement.
My sister Margaret has now become a "Penzies" customer, as a result.
Meanwhile, Dad discovered a remarkable condiment at Trader Joes.
They have a chili & lime powder thats incredible on everything.
We are still checking to see if my shrinkage has bottomed out or not.
The latest is my sense of taste.
This is NOT COVID related, but my sense of taste is off.
Really, since late 2019, my soda consumption has been down.
I hadnt had a soda in I couldnt remember when.
I was jonesing for an orange soda. I was looking forward to it.
I finally treated myself to one of my favorites.
I love a good orange soda, or a good grape soda.
The experience was disturbing, to say the least.
I finished the soda, but it was an incredibly underwhelming experience.
It was definitely NOT the experience I remembered or was looking forward to.
The orange soda wasnt nasty, it was both bland and a bit "off".
I dont dare try a grape soda.
Im not ready for another disappointment.
Worse yet, on the weekend, I had waffles.
I havent had waffles in quite a while.
Again, I was looking forward to the treat.
The waffles were good, even the fake butter was good.
The maple syrup, was off and bland.
Next time, Ill just go with waffles and butter and skip the syrup.
The funny thing is that chili powder is now sweet.
We arent sure if my weight has bottomed out yet, but the weight loss has slowed.
I was going through some old clothes from my HS years.
I was planning to give them away to some of the tweenagers at faire.
At the moment, that is on hold as they may be the only clothes I have that fit.
Ive found at least one pair of my "Daisy Dukes".
If they still fit when build weekend for RennFaire happens, Im going to wear them, because I can.
It will be fun.
This places me in a quandry.
When my class reunion has a picnic, I usually wear a Utilikilt.
Last reunion, I went high land formal, kilt, vest, jacket, tux shirt, bow tie, basically full argyle "black tie".
Now I have to choose between continuing the tradition and coming in the tighest slinkiest thing I can find.
I think Im slimmer than I was in HS right now, and Im in the mood to really screw with people.
Id probably scare a few too.
