As I've posted before, Ive been number crunching to keep my sanity in these times.
I've no idea why number crunching helps, but it does.
I was optimistic about NY & NJ hitting herd immunity by the end of the month,
but there is a problem.
They were gaining on herd immunity when they were going up by 10k cases a day.
Their success in bringing their numbers down, has pushed herd immunity WAY out.
Its become a mixed blassing.
Ive started running new stats by state on when they will hit herd immunity.
The numbers are rather depressing, but with people defying lockdown, the numbers may improve.
Im not advocating that people defy lockdown, Im just crunching the numbers.
I found Mandel Bears post about FIPS very interesting.
I didnt know that Curio had died.
Ive been going over to Sharon & Dons to work on their house.
We are the only ones in contact with each other, so there isnt much risk.
A couple weeks ago, Don & I were working on clearing part of the basement to build the long
planned music room.
Sharon came down and told us that she thought they had "lost Misha".
She had been upstairs, on an online music gathering and he kept jumping up in her lap being a pain.
He eventually wandered off to the bedroom and the other cat suddenly scfreamed.
He died on the dresser.
Misha was a big black cat, kind of goofy, who liked to play in his water bowl.
Sharon got the pair of them from a shelter, they had come to the shelter as a pair and she took them both.
18 months in the shelter left them a bit traumatized.
It was a surprise when after 2 years I fell asleep in the couch and woke up with both curled up on top of me.
I guess I was finally accepted, but Sol is still a bit skittish when someone walks towards her.
Sol has a strong dislike of cat carriers and both get very upset if someone lies down on the floor.
I suspect their first person died and they were probably unceremoniously dumped into carriers for a trip
to the shelter.
Misha was about 16, and from his movement, you could tell that he was in pain.
I dig the hole out in the garden, next to the statue of St Francis.
The bummer was that there was no catnip to bury him with.
He was also a huge cat, and that was one big hole.
Since then, Don & I have been learning on the fly, how to tile a bathroom.
One more weekend should do it.
In the meantime, things are loosening up, and we are hoping to do the holiday weekend
to do a run to Willits for some desperately needed work on the place.
If we do it right, we will wrap a whole bunch of projects up there.
Still waiting till June for word on Dickens Faire (probably cancelled) and
word on Northern Rennfaire in July (Being outdoors, it MIGHT happen)
