texxgadgetIm coming up on 5yrs grave shift at Amazon.
Ive been out of IT since 2022 and really want to get back in.
Once you have been on the bench a year it becomes exponentially harder to get back in.
I was thrilled when it looked like I was going to get into high performance computing at UC Davis.
It would have been 6mo and would have reset the clock on how recently Ive done IT.
Adding HPC to the resume would have been great.
Being a contract, and being on the hardest shift to get into at Amazon, I would have kept the Amazon gig (4hrs grave).
I found a bus from Walnut Creek BART to UCD that does 2 morning runs and 2 evening runs.
Each way is $5, and with my Sr Clipper card, its $2.50.
I couldnt drive for that, plus I get an hr and a half nap each way.
The timing would have been tight, but it would have been worth it.
Sadly, it didnt come together in the end and Im kind of in mourning.
