texxgadgetWell Im finally doing work thats fairly state of the art.
What I have learned in the last few days will make me much more marketable.
In fact Id be working by now if Id learned this several months ago.
In the afternoons, a college kid, (cute blond, thick european accent)
son of one of the QA people comes in and helps out with the lowlevel
computer & phone stuff. We are slowly spoonfeeding him sysadmin.
Before I came in, Anton had tried a system install on one of the 1-u SUN V-100s.
The install failed. When I did my 1st install onb the 4500, I had to scour the
sysadmin lab for all CDs and get them all into 1 place.
The 1st 2 CDs I tried to boot from were unreadable.
They were filthy.
A trip to the breakroom and some warm slightly soapy water made them work.
Hmmm.... Could this be what tripped up Anton ?
At this point, I now have a machine with internal mirrors and its time to
go get optional software off the net.
Missed Starport.
I want to get all available hours I can.
