I HATE this user interface.
Im so used to using the vi editor I keep banging the esc key
and that causes LJ to wipe the screen. There seems no way to
save your work as you go.
Yesterday was Yahoo.com 10th birthday.
Cool idea, printout coupon from Yahoo website and go to Baskin
Robbins.
What sucked was that after I printed it out, looked up the local
store, found a map, drove like maniac to get there, they refused
to honor it saying that theyere were only taking the 1st 300 coupons.
No way in hell was I gonna hit every store ion the area looking for
1 that would honor it. I decided screw this and went home.
It was too late to trek down to Starport.
This morning the 4500 went down dirty and the fsck screwed the INODE table.
Reinstalled and mirrored AGAIN! (Getting pretty experienced at this now)
Found why the dev server wouldnt tftpboot the raid boxes.
Seems that while they have mac address fields of :00: those are supposed
to be in the ethers table as :0:. Thats 1 mystery solved.
I was ready to blame the switch.
Downloaded the needed optional software. wget is a lifesaver!
Tomorrow I build postgres from scratch.
Tom & I went downstairs sometime after 11pm.
I was POURING rain!
"Wheres your coat?" he asked.
"I shrugged "In the car at the other end of the parking lot"
Tom is a real cool guy to work with. Hes also very overworked.
Hes sci fi fandom too. Old time UNIX guy like me.
