texxgadgetI started work on a new server today.
Uday (CTO) is upset because he feels I read manuals too much.
(I suppose hed rather that I just guess and maybe clober his site in the process?)
Hes also upset because he feels Tom & I talk tooo much.
On the other hand he wanted me to do something the other day that I thoeretically
could do if I knew certain things like passwords tree organization that they had
set up etc. His attitude was that if I couldnt do it, maybe I should be replaced
by someone who knows more.
He missed the point.
Someone more knowledgeable would STILL have to be spun up on how his business had
set up their code trees and passwords etc.
Some of this knowledge has not been passed to me since I dont yet need it, also
because Uday bitches about us talking all the time.
Uday has Tom working as IT mgr, Lead sysadmin, helpdesk, telcom mgr, build engineer,
database admin and several other jobs. Tom is working 16 hrs a day 7 days a week.
Hes burning out. At some point hes gonna tell Uday to take a flying leap and then
Uday will be totally screwed. I guess its a cultural thing.
HE is getting updet about the power thing. Since this server is not yet online,
I telnetted into it and ran shutdown power off on it. I did the same with the raid
I was able to connect to. OK they are down. To restart them, someone will have to
go over to HE and push buttons. Its kinda like burning your bridges behind you.
Since Im holding myself to 8 hrs at a time now, I hit Starport tonight.
Kinda light turnout.
