Day-3
======
(King City-Paso Robles)

I got to chat with the cute guy Id seen earlier with the green hair while in
shower. His name is Joel.

We got everyone safely out of camp.
While directing traffic, I asked a question and our resident tetsosterone
poisoning case Tom, kept answering questions other than what I asked.
Then he came over and replaced me in my position.
He seems to have usurped our captain and Im having fantasies about
using Tom's head for batting practice.

At the coffee stop outside camp, I called in to get final job starting date
info. Well it seems I have been strung along. So far the morning really sucks
except for meeting Joel (god with green hair).

Later I would find the day getting worse.

The staff at the fairgrounds are used to driving like maniacs and dont
like being reminded that there are cyclists who need to be slowed down for.
The staff likes to swear when asked to slow down. Lyn is a nice gentle
softspoken person. She really didnt deserve the verbal abuse she got from a
couple of the yahoos who work there. They screached their tires up by my
station. I asked the ride staff facilities director if it was necessary
for the fairgrounds staff to be so beligerant towards traffic folks,
he picked up his cell and he had a chat with the fairgrounds management.
The 2 jerks in the golfcart disappeared for the rest of the day.

The jerk in the pickup was far more fun to screw with.
After he nearly ran down Rachael & Caradad out back, I stepped right into his
path on the road. He tried gunning the engine to scare me. I was either very
brave or very stupid. I told him I had his plate # and 3/4 mi visibility.
If he broke what I believed to be 15mph I would turn him into the cops for
reckless driving and the cops were likely to take my word. He didnt seem to
like that very much.

By now I was referring to myself as a "traffic goon"

In the afternoon, Tom made it abundantly clear that HE was in charge,
I was not supposed to use the radio (camp assigned each in traffic a radio)
and ALL I was to do was stand in the middle of the street with a flag.
Ward had pretty much lost control by this point.

I caught up with Dr Guzby and he started me on a Keflex antibiotic and
offered to get me into the dental school clinic and get my whole mouth
overhauled all at once.

I saw Edna in the clinic on an IV. Something about Edna & Paso Robles...
She always ends up in the clinic dehydrated.

We tracked the last cyclist in again just before the local RACES net on the
local repeater. We got all the camp hams together and passed the radio
around and we all checked in as guests. It was a blast.
I think it also blew the minds of the local RACES
(Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services) to have that many out of town guest
check ins.

One of the security guys is cute and hes into older too.
Alas while he likes older, Im still too much of a troll.

I got revenge on the veggies. The meat was tri-tip and although they did a
great job on it, my dental work was more in the mood for the veggie chili
enchilladas. I crashed the veggie line & got away with it.

Dr Goosby set me up with a 10 day run of Keflex antibiotic for the dental
situation.
