Wow! Its July already !

I made it to the Starport party in June.
It was good to see Colleen/Flower Cat walking again.
It was also quite odd to have the Chaos Wolf NOT there.
It was nice to connect with people Ive lost track of.

Around the end of June was the Double Dipsea race. I worked radio
communications at the "Windy Gap" checkpoint. I found myself reunited
with someone Ive not seen in 20 years. It was cool.
Runners go from Stinson Beach to Mill Valley & back, with awards
& barbeque back at Stinson st the end.

I note that Al Franken has FINALLY been sworn into the Senate after 8 months.
A while back, Minnesota elected Jessie "The Body" Ventura.
Now they elect Al Franken, the commedian. This should be interesting.
Never let it be said that people from the upper miswest dont have a sense of humour.
I cant help but wonder if they are trying to tell the rest of us something.

The job search continues, bleakly.
I had something lined up at the end of June, but it fell through.
I flunked the background check.
Get this:
Because I drove on a suspended drivers license and got caught at it,
this counts as a misdemeanor.
Its popped up before but nobody had a problem with it.
These guys had a problem with it.

I got rejected by Twitter because Im not a member.
Im sorry, I dont know what Id do with a Twitter account.
Hell, Its all I can do to post to LJ every 6 months ?
How the hell am I supposed to find time and something to say 10 times a day ?

So, Im still looking.

July 4th was good. We did the fireworks at Cloverdale again, as usual.
Im surprised, I didnt have to fill out the usual homeland security paperwork
as I usually have to do. Its basically a "Yes, I handled class 1 explosives
on such a date and this is who I am if you want to come and call me a terrorist"
If you just set up the mortars, you dont have to fill it out.
If you physically touch even 1 shell, you usually have to fill out the form.

Visiting Mom lately, shes been standing more upright, which is cool.
Shes also ready for bed a lot earlier than in the past.

Coverage of the Michael Jackson death has been interesting.
Ive come away with a new understanding of him.
I no longer think hes quite as weird as I used to.
I have an appreciacion of some of his music that I didnt before.
He was still doing music with a discernable melody, counter melody, theme A,
theme B, accompniament, and an actual chorus in a lot of his stuff.
These are sorely missing in modern music.
I give him shout outs for better craftmanship in his music than most
of his colleagues.
