ALC Day 7, Victory at Hollywood

Day-7
======
(Ventura-West Hollywood)
Checking before & after my shower I finally found Dan around his tent and we
finalized my trip home.
This meant I could go to Victory instead of picking up gear & heading
back from Hollywood before Victory started.
My alternative was up to now missing closing and hitching a ride on one of the busses that had to go back
to SFO that afternoon.
Once in Hollywood, I hung around the holding area and said my goodbyes to
people I didnt think Id see til next year.
We tried to track the caboose by ham radio but we werent using repeaters in
Hollywood and simplex just wasnt making it.
At 4 we had closing in the middle of San Vicente St.
The cyclists rode in. Then the roadie crew marched in to "Simply the Best"
and the cyclists squirted us with their water bottles as usual.
Joel, the cute, hung guy (like a horse), with green hair gave me his email.
After closing I hooked up with Mike & we loaded up my luggage cart and headed
up santa Monica to the hotel.
On the way out of there, I met Edna's parents.
Edna is a bright bubbly philipina woman with this bright blinding white smile.
She was nervous. This would be the 1st time her parents came to ALC and she wasnt sure
how their values would jive with ALC. It all worked out well.
Her dad was proud of her and I gather hes kinda stingy on the praises.
This made a major difference to Edna.
People were waving from cars & honking horns at all of us in ALC shirts on the streets.
We were like celebrities.
After cleanup, we went to Vincenzos, a nice place I read about.
After that we walked Santa Monica. We stopped in at The Abby that Id heard
about. WOW ! Im still not used to mens rooms with attendants.
The beers were over priced.
We stopped in at Mickeys on the way back and met more ALC folks there.
I was more comfortable at Mickeys.
We got back to Mike's hotel room at Ramada and I crashed & burned.
