2011-May-23, Monday 18:42I missed out on the golden ticket off this rock, so i guess Im doomed to hell...
I know someone who was going to go out on the side walk Saturday night and pose empty clothing
to look like people actually had left.

On a more sobering note, about 75% of Joplin MO is missing, including the top 2 stories of its hospital.
For about 50,000 people in the midwest, the end of the works DID come, only a day late.
I was in a workshop at Carnegie Mellon Disaster Management Institute this weekend.
While watching Brig Gen Scott Johnston do a presentation on the CA national guard response to Katrina
(They were the 1st help to arrive in LA) I was watching slides of Kartina while the storm flattened Joplin.
I didnt catch the news last night, so this morning the news came as a bit of a shock.
Its been a while since I posted. No, I havent died (this will disappoint some people).
I spent Mothers Day over at Salem Lutheran with Mom. My sister popped by and of course Dad was there.
We wheeled Mom around the gardens and caught a jazz combo downstairs in the gathering room.
It was a trip because I realized that the pianist was someone Id been in marching band with.
It was a fun reunion when I walked up to him after and asked him where he went to HS.
He said now that I was talking I did look familiar, but he was having a heck of a time coming up with my name.
When I told him, there was the forehead slap "OF COURSE!"
My sister was a course marshal on the Tour D'California.
Im rather proud of her for joining the cycling community even if she doesnt ride.
Im hoping shes hooked on bike ride crewing and will continue.
Ive worked a few events myself this spring.
I did the Grizzle peak century as radio operator on a sag truck, the Miwok 100k run in Marin, and a handful of other events. The Miwok started on the sandbar at Rodeo Beach in Marin out by the old Ft Cronkite Missile Range. It started before dawn. Randy had one of those vests that lights up with LEDS sewn into it.
In the dark, several hundred runners were following this floating glowing lime green traffic vest across the lagoon to the end of the sandbar.
I had to comment to people there, "I dont CARE if Im a lemming, Im STILL NOT GOING!!!"
Finish was up at the Pt Bonita Lighthouse YMCA Hostel above the Nike Missile Museum.
We got out of there around 11PM.
On the way out there, I realized I was way low on horsepower on the road.
On the Waldo Grade I slowed down to 30mph floored. I was worried if I was going to make it home.
I made it Ok, just kind of slow. I got in to the mechanic and hed them look at it.
The exhaust had burned through the wire to cylinder #1. Also the oil light had quit.
The original bill was $125, but I got it cut in half when I reminded them that THEY had installed the plug
wire that burned through and Id had them fix the oil light already and it didnt stay fixed.
Id have pushed for a deeper cut in the bill but I also had them do some other stuff too.
Im officially hunting for a mortgage broker. Im ready to take the next step on my stealth project.
When I finally tell people what it is, they will all say "With Texx, it FIGURES!"
With the theme of this post, I really shopuld dub the project "Hells Bells".
People ask about the pic on my LJ page.
This is the old ATT microwave station on the South Peak of Mt Diablo (Now demolished)
Ill have to post more later.
