Singin' in da' rain!

Im glad Mandelbear & Flowercat have found a house.
Im even more thrilled that they got something in West Seattle.
The Admiral District is nice and the #55 bus gets you into downtown easily.
I was there in the late 90s for a few weeks using the 55 between Atlantic St in WS and Seneca ST in downtown.
Later in 2006-2007 I had a desk in the Belltown area of downtown Seattle that I only saw less than once a month.
That year I was in transit most of the time and staying at a Homewood Suites a block from the office when I was there.
I dont usually like living in large cities, but Seattle is one I could handle.
The planned outpatient procedure I should have started yesterday is on long term hold.
We were going to have it done st SF General because it was cheaper.
The pre procedure testing has now cost more than the entire projected cost of the procedure and I have nothing to show for it.
Now, they have re calculated the cost of the procedure and it is 25 times the cost originally quoted to me.
I originally believed I could finance it myself without insurance, but no longer.
Thats a bummer.
Also a bummer is the hitch in my attempted land deal.
Seller decided to change the situation and everything is on hold.
That deal has occupied 4 years of my life in setting it up and a whole bunch of things were depending on it going through.
A few other things have coincided to put me on quite a bummer.
There are 2 points of light in the darkness.
I was talking to "Celtic Daughter" a dealer in things Celtic about a special kilt 2 years ago.
She seems to have disappeared along with her domain etc.
She IS listed in the dealers list for PantheaCon 2013, however.
Registration is not required for the dealers hall.
Ive never been to PC, but I do want to catch up with Melinda.
Im hoping she is indeed in he dealer hall and I am able to finally place the order.
If Saber, her mom Kitty, and Hillery Ayer are there, Id like to see them too.
My fingers are crossed.
The other point of light is this:
People have been trying to get me to read Terry Pratchetts novels for a while.
Being someone who works on remote radio sites, they all wanted me to read "Going Postal".
Kg6kco, Jeff, a coworker, turned me on to books on tape of Pratchetts Discworld series.
It was a blast to say the least, and now Im working through the rest.
Im presently part way through "Moving Pictures".
Its is a hilarious send up of Hollywood, show business in general, and of hucksterism.
It also does a pretty good parody of the MGM musical "Singing In The Rain"
And then it became "personal".....
Imagine a couple officers of the Night Watch cowering from the rain, sharing a cigarette in a doorway.
Along comes "Cut Me Own Throat Dibbler" dancing down the street in the dark & rain, swinging on lamp post as the gargoyles on rooftops spout the rain on him from the rooftops.
One of the night watch guys comments that "Hes off his nut" as they watch him go by, not quite sure what to make of it.
In the original MGM, Gene Kelly is dancing down the street in the rain, swinging on lamp posts and getting drenched by the rooftop gutters.
A cop gives him "the hairy eyeball" and you can imagine hes thinking "This guys off his nut!"
Now, last night, I come out of the building, headed across the quad for the car park and its started to rain.
Without thinking, I start humming "Singing In The Rain".
And then I realize what Ive done....
Hysterical laughter takes over, probably echoing across the quad. I think I laughed all the way to the car.
And theres someone from security bundled up, taking shelter under an overhang, trying to figure out whats going, most likely wondering
"Is that guy off his nut?"
Ill say it for you, Yeah Im probably all wet.
Too bad I didnt do all that in a kilt!
