This morning, some truck got on the bridge and managed to catch his semi on fire.
About the 5th st exit it completely went into flames.
The freeway only had 1 lane open when I go past it, but it was nearly 3 hours of traffic to get that far.
With everyone jumping back & forth between lanes trying to cut in front of others made it all worse.
I left a bit before 8 and arrived at work nearly noon. The original fire was 5am. Go figure.

Caltrans had a repaving crew standing by. Hazmat was mopping up the diesel that had not burnt.
They were trying to figure out how to get it off the freeway since it was too melted to tow.
I think they should have just reignited it and let it burn until they could use shovels to move it.

When i finally made the toll plaza, several fastrak lanes were blocked by cars that had used them to cut to the front of the cash lanes but were unable to cut in, so they ruined the fastrak lanes for everyone.
CHP knows they do this but they dont ticket drivers for it.
It doesnt matter what lane you are in, 95% of the time you all get there withing a couple minutes of each other, so get in a lane and stay there.

I love that word. Burning cars, "carbecues" even when they are trucks.

...and this is why I'll only ride a motorcycle in the city. Even 10mph faster than traffic is a drastic improvement.
